Happy Labor Day, Colorado! 🇺🇸
Colorado has a proud labor history. Generations of working people helped build our state and fought for safer workplaces, fair pay, reasonable hours, and the dignity that comes from an honest day’s work.
Today, I’m grateful to spend time listening to and learning from South Metro Professional Firefighters, Douglas County Teachers, and working people across Colorado, including members of the Colorado AFL-CIO, SEIU Local 105, and Colorado Professional Fire Fighters.
Here in #DouglasCounty, I see families working hard and doing everything right, yet still feeling the pressure of rising housing, grocery, insurance, and utility costs. #Firefighters put themselves in harm’s way to protect our families. #Teachers give their time and talent to prepare our children for the future. Small-business employees, healthcare workers, tradespeople, and countless others work every day to keep our community strong.
As an elected South Metro Fire Rescue director and former Douglas County School District Board director, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the people who serve our community. I’ve seen their dedication firsthand—and I believe the people we count on deserve the resources, training, safe working conditions, fair compensation, and respect they need to do their jobs well.
Labor isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s the firefighter answering the call, the teacher staying late for a student, the tradesperson building our community, and the parent working hard to give their children a better future.
Working people built America, strengthened our middle class, and continue to make our country strong.
This Labor Day, I simply want to say thank you to everyone who works hard, serves others, and helps make #Colorado a great place to call home.
