25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸
This morning, Rep. Robert C. Marshall, Rep. Eliza Hamrick, Rep. Tammy Story, and I joined South Metro Professional Firefighters, first responders, fellow board members, and members of our community for South Metro Fire Rescue’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.
Standing beside the piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center was a powerful reminder of the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001—and of the extraordinary courage of the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger to help others.
Twenty-five years have passed, but our responsibility to remember has not.
We honor those we lost. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. And we remain grateful to the first responders who continue to answer the call every day.
May we also remember the spirit of unity that brought Americans together in the days that followed.
We shall never forget. 🇺🇸
